Cristina De Juan, Innovatemedtec: “In the last 3 years I’ve seen an increase in women moving to healthtech from 10% to around 30% so I’m positive the change has started and is growing”

About 30% of the speakers invited to iCEE.fest (Bucharest, June 15 & 16) are women, representing the largest percentage in the history of the festival.

  • Women in Tech by TailWind” will be a special session that will treat this topic on Vip Stage 1, June 15.

Taking place on the second day of iCEE.fest, iCEE.health is the only event in the region dedicated to digital health which brings together all healthcare stakeholders.

Good to know, this track exceeds the percentage above, more and more women being interested in e-Heath.

It’s the case of Dr. Cristina De Juan, Fouder and CEO @ Innovatemedtec, a digital health marketplace which creates an environment where the drivers and influencers changing the future of healthcare come together on one platform.

How to grow a digital health culture” is the name of Cristina’s panel @ iCEE.health (Focus Stage 2) but before the festival let’s hear what she has to say about doctors entrepreneurs, digital health influencers and e-health programs:

  • You are one of the digital health influencers, but more importantly, you have been in this field for quite a few years know. Tell us what do you think is the current state of affairs?

The current state of affair is looking more positive by the day.

Digital health is now well-known in the medical field. Importantly, it’s also attracting attention from other fields techies, gamers, data scientists etc.

There are a growing number of initiatives focusing on supporting and investing digital health companies, and the health system is looking at how to make use of the new techs.

  • Why Barts X Medicine, the first digital health course for medical students? Why do we need such programs?

The field of medicine has evolved and the current universities curriculum do not accommodate for this rapid change.

Medics are a critical piece as they need to be knowledgeable and ultimately the adopters of digital health tools when patients present to them.

With Barts X, not only we exposed medical students to the new techs from big data to VR, but we also encouraged them to build a product. The results were amazing.

  • What would be your top advise for doctor entrepreneurs?

To join IMT’s courses and networking events to gain knowledge about how to use digital health tools in clinical practise, learn how to build a startup, and network with potential business partners and funding initiatives.

  • And for women in health tech, knowing this is a topic closed to your heart?

As above. In the last 3 years I have seen an increase in women moving to healthtech from 10% to around 30% so I’m positive the change has started and is growing.

Importantly, I have seen there are now a number of companies funded by women. My advice? Just do it.

  • What are you looking for the most at iCEE.health @ICEEfest?

Very excited about meeting the talent of the region, the fresh perspective, and catching up with friends who are movers and shakers in the space.
