Released on July 6 in US, Pokemon Go became rapidly a worldwide sensation. Developed by Niantic, the Augmented Reality mobile game topped the download charts for both Apple and Android last weeks.
Just imagine that a man from New Zeeland “quits job to become full-time Pokemon hunter“. Or, in Central Park, last weekend thousands of people were searching for rare Pokemon.
That’s how huge Pokemon Go is these days.
Pokemon Go: the data is the product
Pokemon Go is a free download. So, even if buying Pokemon brings the company almost $2 million/ day, how is that the revenues are in billion of dollars?
“We’re living in a society where we are the product“, said cybersecurity expert Adam Levin for The Fiscal Times adding that “when people are valuing organizations they’re interested in the subscriber base, the database, and the lifetime value of the customer or what they can do with you“.
And this is one big move for Pokemon Go: free download but a lot data collected starting with your Google profile and continuing device identifiers and precise location.
That’s the most valuable resource the user can give to the Pokemon Go owners.
What is Pokemondo?
With 10 million active users/ day, Pokemon Go already drew attention to the huge potential that can be achieved in related fields.
“I read in the US press that a lot of people use the game not just for fun but to do exercises and to get in all kind of locations, like bars, restaurants and shops to hunt Pokemon“, said Lorand Minyo.
That was the moment when the romanian entrepreneur came with the idea for Pokemondo, which is “a marketplace for Pokemon Go players and companies that will have a community component through which we’ll announce the presence of rare Pokemon in certain areas“, added Lorand.
The benefits of using Pokemondo
Pokemon GO is worth $29 billion based on Nintendo’s stock price jump.
And this is only the beginning. Smart businesses are now ready to enter the game.
Pokemondo is here to help:
- Pokemon Go users will receive bounty alerts, which are offers of locations and companies
- The bounties are in fact prizes for players who bring Pokemon in the locations
- Companies are sending exclusive offers for Pokemon Go players
“We are still in the validation phase and the signs are good. We’ve already been contacted for complex campaigns and we’re looking for community managers in different cities in Europe, starting with London and Berlin“, said Lorand.
After having Cosmin Mihaiu/ Mira at ICEEfest 2016, another entrepreneur from the tech hub of Cluj-Napoca/ Romania is ready to give the world a special product.
Hope to CEE you @ ICEEfest 2017 with great news, Lorand!
